Code of Conduct

InfraConf Africa is dedicated to providing a welcoming, safe, and productive environment for all participants regardless of background, identity, or experience level.

Our Pledge

We as participants, contributors, and organisers of InfraConf Africa pledge to make participation in our conference and community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, colour, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community.

Our Standards

Examples of behaviour that contributes to a positive environment:

  • Using welcoming and inclusive language
  • Being respectful of differing experiences and viewpoints
  • Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback
  • Accepting responsibility and learning from mistakes
  • Focusing on what is best for the community as a whole
  • Showing empathy towards other community members

Examples of unacceptable behaviour:

  • The use of sexualised language or imagery, and sexual attention or advances of any kind
  • Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
  • Public or private harassment
  • Publishing others' private information without explicit permission
  • Vendor pitches or unsolicited commercial promotion in session Q&As or chat
  • Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all InfraConf Africa spaces — including the virtual conference platform, Discord server, GitHub repositories, social media channels, and any off-platform interactions that arise from or relate to conference participation.

Enforcement

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behaviour may be reported to the conference organisers at conduct@infraconf.africa. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.

Conference organisers have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, posts, and other contributions not aligned with this Code of Conduct, and to temporarily or permanently remove any participant for behaviours they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Enforcement Guidelines

Conference organisers will follow these guidelines in determining consequences:

  • Correction — Private written warning, clarification of the violation.
  • Warning — A formal warning with conditions for continued participation.
  • Temporary removal — A temporary ban from all community spaces.
  • Permanent removal — A permanent ban from all community spaces.

This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1, and the Django Code of Conduct.
